Book Catalogue 2020: Series to Finish

Hello Biblio friends! Welcome to part 2 of my Book Catalogue series, where I list down the books on my shelf based on a certain category. Here is the part 1 of this series, Completed Series, if you have not read it yet.

As you have read from the title, this blog will be dedicated to all the completed series on my shelf that I have yet to finish.

Whether or not I intentionally withheld myself from reading this, I will share them all to you and give you my reason as to why this series is on the list. So without further ado, let’s get into the books!

Sherlock Holmes Series by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

I don’t know how many books there are in this series, but I have yet to finish it. I have this gorgeous bind-up from Barnes and Nobles, and I already read the first volume. But I don’t remember the latter half of the book, so I started rereading it this year. However, I put it down because I have other things to read, and I have never gotten around to finish my reread.😅 Hopefully, I would finish my reread and pick up the second volume soon after.

Shatter Me Series by Tahereh Mafi

If you don’t know by now, I love dystopian. And this is one of the series that I picked up back in the days. See that ugly first book cover??? Yup. That’s the time where I became a fan of the series (even though I probably rated the first book a 2-star on Goodreads). The naked book looks beautiful though that is why I am keeping it.

Anyway, I have read the first three books. I reread it again in preparation for the fourth book, which I honestly like. I was scared because of the mixed reviews, but it was good. The world-building that I am looking for in the original trilogy is finally being served by Tahereh Mafi. My only regret is that I read it via audiobook. So, I would probably reread it again before I pick up the 5th & 6th book. (The struggle is real.)

Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan

Look at these gorgeous hardcovers. I was debating on whether or not I should buy this boxed set, and now I regret nothing.

My 2021 goal is to finish this series (and the other series on this list). Fingers crossed that it will happen. I have only read the first three books. I picked up the fourth book, and I was feeling slumpy that time, so I put it down. And months later, I still haven’t picked it up since.😅 (Story of my life.)

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

Another one of my favorite dystopian novels. I have read the original trilogy plus the novella bind-up, but I have yet to pick up the fourth book. I love Zu, and I am not complaining about this additional book. Hopefully, I could pick it up soon.

Legend Series by Marie Lu

And the saga of me being lazy when it comes to removing the cover continues.

Well, this is one of those additional books that I am debating if it was worth buying. I did not love the trilogy, but I like most of the aspects well enough. I do not like the ending, but I like how it went in a different direction. It is my personal opinion because I have seen a lot of that twist on our local TV drama. If you decided to end a series in an open ending type of way, then be it. But adding another book felt like an afterthought, or changing your mind with that ending, which is a bit frustrating. However, I think the fans of the trilogy were anticipating the additional book.

Oh, wait. This is a book catalogue, not a rant post.😅 My bad. Anyhow, I would like to know what this fourth book would offer to the whole series, which is why I am still going to read it. Plus, I love the cover.

The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins

Now, this trilogy is the series that I would eat up anything that the author would offer. I love the world and the characters. But since they announced that the book is about President Snow, it’s been getting mixed reactions. Even the reviews are mixed. But I am not scared, and I am just waiting for the hype to died down before I read it. (And I want to reread Mockingjay first.😂)

Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness

Now, this trilogy is a unique dystopian novel. I enjoyed it and read the first two books. However, I was intimidated by the size of the third book that I have never gotten around to picking it up. But I really want to finish this trilogy. I do not know how many times I will say this, but hopefully, soon.

Snow Like Ashes Trilogy by Sara Raasch

This is one of those cases where I read and liked the first book, so I waited until the trilogy is complete to binge read. But as always, I never got around to picking up the rest of the books. 2021 will be the year.😅 (I feel like I have said that to every series in this post, but oh well.😂)

Alienated Trilogy by Melissa Landers

So, here is the story, I read the first book though I could not say that I absolutely love it. It was about a human and an alien falling in love. (That’s the only thing that I remember from what I read.) But the cover is beautiful. However, I was debating if I would still continue the trilogy when the last book was published by a different publisher. (Or was it self-publish?) And I do not have the means to buy it. But lo and behold, I managed to find a way to buy the third book. And now they are complete.

I still want to finish this trilogy, but I need to be in the right mindset when I do finish this. It was romance heavy, which I don’t usually like. But I sometimes craved for some romance in fantasy settings, so I think these books might come in handy.

Shades of Magic Trilogy by V. E. Schwab

I bought the collector’s edition boxed set of this trilogy, and I don’t regret it. I have read the first book, but I have yet to read the second and third. (What’s new?) I love everything about the first book, and no overpowering romance in the story. Hoping to pick up the next book soon-ish.

Unearthed Duology by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

I powered through the first book while I was in a slumpy mood because I really wanted to finish it. The story was much better than the Starbound Trilogy, which was also written by these authors. However, since I was in a slumpy mood at that time, I kind of associated my slump with this book. And because of that, I am scared to pick up the last book. Even though the first book did not cause my slump.

So, that is all for this blog. Keep in mind that these are only the series that I owned. I do not want to think about the series that I did not own.😅

Be sure to check out the first part of this series. I hope you guys are safe!

Until next time!
