March 2021 Wrap-up & Book Haul

Hello fellow bookworms!

Happy April! I have a good reading month in March even though I only managed to finished 4 books. On the bright side, I finally read my most anticipated book of 2020.

In addition to that, I will also be sharing a very exciting book haul. It’s a series that I have contemplated for a long time if I will read or not. But I feel like I am ready to get into this series now. So I am excited to share that book with you!

I’ll quit blabbering, and let’s get into the wrap-up and the book haul!

= Wrap-up =

Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑

Thoughts: This is one of the Agatha Christie books that I am hoping to get into. The plot itself is good and would keep you hanging on your seat. However, the plot and the twist are so predictable. I am only 50% into the book, and I can already tell who the murder is even if the author tried to give us a misdirect. It’s a good story, if only the twist is not so predictable.

Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌘🌑

Thoughts: Confusing is my first impression about this book. I like the overall premise of the story, but I felt that it was lacking a bit in execution. The focus of the story was more on the exchange of letters rather than the world-building. However, without the world-building, I feel like the story does not have that much impact. But it was a fast read, and I enjoyed bits and pieces of it.

Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕

Thoughts: I don’t know how many times I’ve reread this book, and the trilogy overall, but it gets better every time I read it. Even though most are disappointed by this book, it was my favorite in the trilogy. It might not be an own voice about PTSD, trauma, and depression but I understand from when I first read it how realistic Katniss’s character is. The deaths in the story are heartbreaking, and that is probably the only thing that I dislike about the book.😅😅

Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌖🌑

Thoughts: I have mixed emotions with this book. I dived into the book not knowing anything other than it’s about President Snow. I did not hate it. I actually enjoyed reading about the makings of the Games that we have come to know from Katniss’s story. However, I expect it to have a lot of the villain-origin story or the story that Finnick narrates in Mockingjay. After finishing the book, I realized that I was actually looking forward to Snow poisoning people left and right. But the thing that I can say I outright dislike is the romantic relationship between Snow and Lucy Gray. I think it could have been better if it’s more platonic because that might make the ending more convincing.

Book Haul

Here is my book haul! I saw someone selling the whole series for less than $20.00. It’s such a steal because I haven’t seen the first three books in the series in my local bookstore in years! That is one of the reasons why I am hesitant to read the series. But my main reason is I don’t think I am ready to go back to the world of Vampire Academy, yet, without RoMitri as the main characters.

But like I said earlier, I feel like I am ready now. The books probably appeared at the right time as well. So that’s that.

That is all for my March wrap-up and book haul! I hope April will be another fun reading month.

Until next time!
