Taylor Swift Album Book Tag (Original!)

Hi guys! Today I have a book tag that I created because of my love for Ms. Taylor Alison Swift. If you are a fellow book lover and a Swiftie, I got you.

This tag has been a long time coming. I am planning to post this last December 13 for Taylor’s birthday. But she drops the Evermore album, and my brain just malfunction. I have been a Swiftie since I was 11, which is almost 15 years ago. And I am excited to share this tag with you because this is not only a book tag but I will also be sharing my favorite song in each album.

I know that there are lots of book tags, even album book tags, for Taylor Swift. But for this album book tag, I decided to go deeper into Taylor’s mind. Each album prompts are based on the foreword or prologue of each album. Some are sentences or thoughts that stuck with me while reading Taylor’s words. Moreover, I also included Taylor’s first and second EP album because why not?

I hope you are excited as I am, and let’s get into the tag!

I can already tell that this would be a very long blog post, but before we dived into the prompts, just a few side notes if you wanted to do this tag.

  • Make sure to link back to the creator’s post.
  • You are free to use the prompt’s graphics (or whatever you call it 🤣)
  • Tag every biblio-Swifties that you know!

And now, on to the book tag for real!

“I’ve never been kissed under the mistletoe.”

The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection is her first EP and a collection of Christmas songs. In her foreword, she mentioned the kiss under the mistletoe, and that’s why I choose Christmas Romance for this prompt.

But before we get into the book, I want to share my favorite song in the album, and that’s Christmas Must Be Something More. I just love the message of the song.

Now, for the book. A Christmas romance that I would highly recommend is Sarah Morgan’s Moonlight Over ManhattanThis is an adult romance that is wholesome with a smut scene. (I feel like I am bad at selling this book right now.) If you like dogs and you are someone who wants to step out of your comfort zone, this is the book for you. Even though this is the 6th book in the series, you can still read it as a standalone since each book revolves around different characters. Highly recommend this if you have not read it yet.

Beautiful Eyes, Taylor’s second EP and the hardest album to find (in my case), does not have a prologue or foreword like her other album. I have seen some unboxing where the booklet was a mini-poster that contains the lyrics (I do not own the physical album). So I researched instead. Taylor released this EP while working on Fearless. Since fans are requesting for new materials from her, they released this album instead. However, there are only 2 new songs from this album, and I am choosing I Heart ? over Beautiful Eyes.✌🏻

With that said, if this album is a book, I could compare it to a novella, a short story in between the series. So, I decided to go with the favorite novella prompt.

I am not a big fan of novellas because, at times, it did not add much to the story. But there are a few that could stand on their own and be their own story. My favorite would be Brandon Sanderson’s The Emperor’s Soul. I have a love-hate relationship with Brandon Sanderson’s book, but this is a good one. It is only 175 pages long, and the magic system was intricate and interesting that I wish we have a full-length novel about it. I like how Sanderson has taken a mundane thing, specifically a stamp, and made it magical and intricate.

“You have let me into your life, and I will never be able to thank you enough for that.”

I have become a Swiftie ever since I heard Teardrops on My Guitar since I was in 5th Grade. I remember everyone in school singing along to that song while we are all oblivious as to what it means to love and cry over someone. I even asked my dad to buy me a guitar because of Taylor Swift!

So years later, when I finally bought this album and read that part of Taylor’s note in the booklet, I cried. I am so thankful that I became a Swiftie.

I often read books in the library back in High School, but until I found one of the books in The Clique series in a bookstore, I never have the urge to buy and read books. Even my mom was surprised that I am interested in buying a book. So I am always thankful that I found one of these books in a book sale.

“These are songs about how the stars twinkle a little brighter when you love someone…”

For this prompt, I decided to combine the word Fearless with Taylor’s words in the platinum edition. I immediately thought of books that just clicks with us no matter what the review said, and we love it no matter how flawed it was.

My favorite song in the album is White Horse. My original track 5. I do not know why, but I could imagine the whole song on my head like a twisted fairytale.

So for this prompt, I choose Daughter of Smoke and Bone. When Strange the Dreamer first came out, it was a big hit to the book community. And when they read Daughter of Smoke and Bone, they have mixed reviews. Some did not like it, and others even DNFed it. But here I am not caring and loving it no matter what. I just love the angst, and that type of push and pull in a relationship is my cup of tea.

It’s a last chance to protest, a moment that makes everyone’s heart race, and a moment I’ve always been strangely fascinated by.”

Just a TMI, for a long time, I am confused as to why people are associating Speak Now with the color purple or something purple-ish pink. And my dumbass think that it should be Red since Taylor is wearing a red dress in the album that I owned. It was when I became obsessed with collecting the albums do I realized that I owned the deluxe edition and not the regular one with a purple dress.🤣🤣

I have a hard time choosing a favorite from this album compared to the other because I love almost every song in this album (I even love Better Than Revenge, tbh). But I decided that my favorite out of all my favorites is Last Kiss. It was a close call between this song and Long Live, but it was a step closer to my heart.

I am not even gonna talk about the prompt, since based on the line in the album’s prologue, it is clear as to why I decided to go with it. And for this prompt, I choose Illuminae. I remember reading the book and not wanting to put it down because I am always on the edge of my seat as to what will happen next.

“It says ‘love is so short, forgetting is so long’.”

Taylor said that that is her favorite line from Pablo Neruda’s poem, and it’s funny because I remember our literature class because of it. But that really stuck with me with choosing the prompts, so here we are.

Before the book, my favorite song from Red is I Almost Do. I know the majority would straight up answer All Too Well, but if there is a song that speaks to my subconscious, this is it.

Okay. Now, the book. I only read this book last year, but it is constantly at the back of my mind. I may not remember it word for word, but We Should All Be Feminist enlighten me in a lot of ways. It also wakes me up to break the stereotype of women, and God knows how I need it, since I am surrounded by sexist and misogynistic relatives.

The debate over whether people can change is an interesting one for me to observe because it seems like all I ever do is change.”

I think it is safe to say that 1989 is my least favorite Taylor Swift album. Don’t get me wrong. I love all of it. But if I rank the songs, most songs from this album are between the favorites and not-so-favorite. But when it comes to the foreword, I think this and Reputation are my favorite.

Moreover, if I have a hard time picking from Speak Now because most are a favorite, I am also having a hard time picking from this because most are not really a favorite. My favorites from the album are the song on the deluxe, specifically Wonderland. But if I were to choose from the standard songs, I will go with I Know Places.

As for my answer to the prompt, I am kind of cheating because I am choosing a series instead of a book. And that would be the Shatter Me Series. If you will tell me that the series is not that good, has lots of flaws, and the romance is not for you, I totally understand. But Juliette’s character development is one of the best that I have ever read throughout the series. If you ignore the insta-love, you would surely notice Juliette’s character development.

“The point being, despite our need to simplify and generalize absolutely everyone and everything in life, humans are intrinsically impossible to simplify. We are never just good or just bad.”

If Reputation is a person, she is the baddest of them all. I love this album. I always put it on whenever I am in the mood to scream at the top of my lungs. And the prologue felt like an essay, and it is so good.

My favorite song in the album is Getaway Car, although it was a close call between Don’t Blame Me. But if I were to choose a favorite MV from every era, Look What You Made Me Do would surely be the winner.

As for the prompt, I feel like I have not read a lot of morally grey characters, or I am not paying much attention. But when it comes to morally grey character/s I am going with Murder on the Orient Express. I am not going to say who it is, but if you read the book, you know.

“When I found my old diaries from my childhood and teen years, they were covered in dust.”

Lover is my aesthetic, to be honest. I love everything about it. (I am still undecided about Me! though. But the MV is so cute.) But what I like the most about the album, especially the deluxe edition, is the inserts of Taylor’s old diary and some old poems or lyrics that she has written before. And as I read her foreword, I somehow put myself in her shoes and imagined how nostalgic it might be to read your old diaries and see your views on things at a certain age. So that is why I choose this prompt.

As for my favorite song, I have a few to choose from, but I have to go with Cornelia Street for this one. I love how soulful that song is. I can picture it in my head, and of course, the lyrics are something that I relate to at one level or another.

I am choosing The Hunger Games because of all the nostalgia. My best friend recommended this book to me, and we even watched the Mockingjay movie together when part 1 came out. I have many fond memories of the book and things that are associated with the books.

“I’ve told these stories to the best of my ability with all the love, wonder, and whimsy they deserve.”

The thing about Taylor Swift is she never runs out of surprises. And this album is truly a big surprise. I love this album so much. These types of songs are my cup of tea whenever I listened to other artists. And not I did not need to look anywhere else because the queen has served us her own take of this genre.

Even though I have a lot of favorites from this album, My Tears Ricochet is the standout. I love the dramatic effect, and, like her other songs, the imagery of her words is so beautiful.

The Night Circus is one of those books that many could consider as beautifully written. And although I did not give it a 4 or 5-Moon rating, I can tell that the more you reread the story, the more you get out of it. The plot was confusing at first, but the ending is good though it felt lacking as well. I just wish it matches the whole vibes of the story. But it is something that I am looking forward to rereading.

“In making it, I felt less like I was departing and more like I was returning.”

Now, this album is the biggest surprise of all. We are all clowns when we think Taylor was filming an MV for another single in Folklore when she was actually filming for Willow. I hope to be as productive as her, too, during this pandemic.🤣

I have to give Willow the most favorite song in the album. It was rare that I choose the single as a favorite. But the imagery of the MV and the song fits perfectly for me. The forest scene is my favorite, and I was in tranced the whole time I was watching it.

I decided to go with this prompt since it has become a trend to continue a series or trilogy that we thought long ago was a done deal. I am still hesitant to pick up a spin-off or additional book in a series, but I am going with The Heir, the continuation of The Selection. I honestly did not like the main character, but the guys in the competition are interesting and have varieties of swoon-worthy characteristics. I also like how the author wraps up the story in the next book. Probably my favorite in the whole series plot-wise.

And that, my friends, is the Taylor Swift Album Book Tag!

I feel like this is the longest blog that I have ever done. But it was the most fun I ever had.😉 I am looking forward to seeing your own version of this tag. And let me know what is your favorite era. Mine would be Folklore and Speak Now (and Fearless and Red and Reputation and Lover and Evermore and 1989 and Taylor Swift).😅

Until next time!

Maria❤
