Hello, fellow bookworm Swifties! If you don’t know, I am a Swiftie since 2007, when I first heard Tear Drops on My Guitar. Since then, I’ve been a fan. I feel like I grow up with Taylor and it is a fun journey, even with all the ups and downs. So I am surely one of those Swifties who freak out when Taylor announced the TS8 album! I already bought the album.🙈 I did not buy every deluxe edition (that’s too expensive!), only the Hide and Seek edition. It was a tough decision though.
Folklore is already my favorite album of Taylor so far. I like how calm and deep the album is. As a Swiftie, the best part of album releases is the fan theory and decoding the hidden meaning behind every song. I love reading the conspiracy theory about it all.
But enough gushing about this album, time to do this tag. I am so excited to do this when I first saw it. I am not tagged by anyone, but I am doing it anyway because I love Folklore and Taylor Swift. Let’s do this!

When I first listen to the whole album, this song is what connects to me the most, the standout. It is still in my top 5 of the album, but don’t ask me about the ranking because I have not decided yet.
Allegiant by Veronica Roth
↠ In the history of all ending, this is by far the only book that left me speechless and not in a good way. I was dumbfounded with how it all ended. I remember sitting down for a while and absorbing everything. That’s when I have the urge to throw it out my window. It was a bold move for the author, if I might say. But the execution is stupidly done. I will never move on from that ending. NEVER!
This is the first song that I heard from the whole album because of the music video, of course. It sets the mood for the whole album before I listen to it. And it felt like a warm hug after a long tiring day. TSwift really knows that the fans needed all these songs during this trying time.
The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis
↠If you have read this book, the ending would make you feel happy and sad all at once. I never thought I care a lot about these characters, but I really do. If you have never read The Chronicles of Narnia before, give it a try. It’s a fun read.
This song grew on me. I was confused as to what this song was about at first but when everything makes sense, I realized how much of a genius Taylor is. She is not only telling her stories anymore, but she is also telling the stories of others.
S. by J.J. Abrams & Doug Dorst
↠ S. is a very complex book that tells three different stories that correlate with one another. It is a well-thought-of book, from the stories in the pages, the margins, up to the footnotes, they all add more substance to the bigger picture. Although reading this book needs a lot of attention as you really need to focus on everything to make sense of the story. But highly recommend, I consider this as a favorite book of all time now.
This song is the duet that we did not know we needed. The harmony was amazing! I love how they are speaking to each other and the lyrics… wow. This is also in my top 5.
Reached by Ally Condie
↠ The concept of the whole trilogy is something that I am excited to see unfolds in the story. The first book was okay, a good set-up for the whole trilogy. However, I feel like the trilogy went down the hill, and this book, in particular, does not contribute anything. This is the last book, and yet the wrap-up of the story felt unsatisfactory and nothing happens in the whole 500 pages of the book. I should’ve left off the story with just the first two books.
As of the moment, this is probably my top 1 in the whole album, but I am sure that this will change next week. This track 5 is so raw and speaks to my soul.
Fragile by Jandra Sutton
↠I do not cry often in books, but I cried hard at the ending. I cried along with the character as she sobs in the car, and I sob along with her. It was just too heartbreaking. I highly recommend this book if you haven’t read it yet. But be ready to cry. (Or maybe it was just me.)
It is one of those songs that would take a lot of listening. I’ve read somewhere that this feels like a song for the fans and how Taylor and her music helps us find ourselves. Since then, I saw this song in a new light. And I don’t know why as well but it gives me a Night Circus vibes with all the whimsical vibes and the picturesque lyrics.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
↠This book is very fundamental in my reading life. I would never fall in love with reading if not for this book. I feel like this was written for me in the sense that it opens up my eyes to a lot of things. While others have Harry Potter & Percy Jackson, this is my book. It feels like coming home, just like Folklore. If I have a slump, this would always get me back to reading and reminds me why I love it. This is my baby, and I don’t know why I still haven’t read the prequel.
To be honest, this is my least favorite song in the whole album on my first listen. But the more that I listen to it, the more that I am liking it. Taylor’s voice is so whimsical in this song. However, I could not fully connect with the song, and I don’t know why.
The Clique by Lisi Harrison
↠I grew up with these girls and I feel like I found a friend in the pages of this book. I cried by the end of the series but I revisit them from time to time. This series is not perfect, nor is the characters, but they have been a part of me ever since I watched the movie and read the books.
This truly reminds you of summer love or summer fling. And this will be on repeat this month for sure! This song is not on my top 5 but it is on my top 10.
Some Kind of Wonderful by Sarah Morgan
↠There is something about love stories in a small island that reminded me of summer. This is the second book in the Puffin Island trilogy, but you can read it as a standalone. I love all of the books in this trilogy, but this is my favorite, so do check it out.
This is a song that is perfect for a rainy day while you stare out of your window. It is so honest and real. You can really see how Taylor matures in her lyrics. Definitely on my top 10.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
↠ I try to stay away from sad books because I don’t like crying and feeling sad. But I pick this up without knowing that this story deals with grief and loss. I like how this dealt with a heavy topic but delivers it in a different way. If you want to be sad, read this.
My favorite part of this song is from the bridge up to the last line. That last line is everything and it ruined me. I like the whole vibes of the song, definitely in my top 10.
Her Eyes Under Water by Romona Simon
↠I don’t usually have book hangover but I will count this one as I can’t stop thinking about one of the main character even though I am already reading another book. The funny thing is, the character is a killer and a psychopath, but the author wrote his character so well that I don’t care if he was a killer, I just like how twisted he is.
This song proves how happy Taylor is with Joe. It talks about their fate, like they are destined for each other. I really love this song, an idea of soulmates and destiny when it comes to love is something that I believe in too. Taylor really has a way of voicing out our inner thoughts. This is a contender for my top 1, but the only thing that I am sure right now is this is in my top 5!
I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella
↠I rarely read romance novels, whether YA or adult, but I read this book at the right time. I feel like I will not enjoy it as much if I read it in a different time. But since I finished this, I already have an idea of what kind of trope I am into with romance. I’ve been making my way with a couple of romance books, all thanks to this book.
The vibes of this song is different from the others, it gives off a dark vibes, but fits perfectly well with the album. I love this song, it’s kinda catchy. This is more of a top 10 than a top 5.
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
↠Rosemarie Hathaway will forever be my girl. All the heartbreaks and pains that she experienced in the whole series does not only make her a strong character physically but also mentally and emotionally.
This song is heartbreaking and seems relevant during this trying time. It reminds me of frontliners who experienced the heartache of knowing that they could no longer do anything to save someone from dying. And it is also painful to see their co-workers die due to the pandemic. This is one of the songs that I don’t know where it stands yet, so I’ll leave it at that.
The Shining by Stephen King
↠A pretty haunting and scary book, but I still don’t like the ending. And oddly enough, I already forgot how this ends. But the atmosphere of this book is truly scary and haunting. Perfect for an October read.
This is the song that I always have fun watching people react to. Whenever they reached the bridge of the song, their reaction is always: “what happened?!” It’s just too funny because I felt the same way when I first listen to it. I also like how this shows that young love is not all about flowers and butterflies too.
Mare & Maven from Red Queen
↠I am a team Mare and Maven in the beginning of the series, and somehow my heartbreaks with how the story progress and ended. I still think that they are much better suited than Mare and Cal, but Cal also grew on me and he also deserves to be happy. But Mare and Maven is my ultimate OTP in this series.
Peace really shows how Taylor thinks she might not be good enough for Joe and yet she was hoping that she will be enough. I absolutely love the melody of this song, another one for a rainy day. I’m still undecided if this is top 5 or top 10.
Kenji from Shatter Me Series
↠ This novella really showcase how much a good friend Kenji is to everyone around him. Tahereh Mafi could kill anyone in this series and I would not care, except for Kenji. He is the character that I want to be friends with in real life, he is selfless and caring, and he puts the need of the people he love first. He is so precious that I love him so much and I would die for him.
This is another song that I would sometimes recall the lyrics in my head while my mind is in idle mode. This also speaks to my soul, the lyrics is beautiful and painful at the same time. I think this is in my top 5, but it’s really hard to tell.
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
↠A circus that only appears at night? That’s my selling point with this book. However, I read this expecting to love it a lot, but I didn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I did not hate it, I even think that this book is something that would get better and better once you reread it. My initial thought is it was an okay book. It was whimsical and atmospheric, but the plot feels lacking. I feel like the beautiful writing style make for what the plot is missing, however, it was still noticeable how the plot does not really do much.
That is all for this book tag with my short opinion about the songs in the album. This is quite a long tag.😅 I enjoyed it nonetheless. I am not tagging anyone because I feel like every bookworm Swiftie has done this tag.
If you are a bookworm Swiftie or just a Swiftie and wanted someone to talk to about the album, you can talk to me.😉 Let me also know what edition of the album did you buy, or if you buy them all.🤣
Happy August and until next time guys!
