If you have been in the book community for a long time, you would know what The Reading Rush is. But just in case you don’t know, it is a week-long readathon hosted by Ariel Bissett and Raeleen Lemay. This year’s readathon starts on July 20, Monday, and ends on July 26, Sunday. If you are interested to join, I’ll be linking the Youtube Channel and the website down below for more information about the readathon.
7 prompts could help you choose your TBR for the week and there are badges as well on the website that you could claim once you finished a prompt. This is perfect for competitive readers out there.
I usually list down the prompts and the corresponding book that I will be reading for the said prompt; but since you could use one book for multiple prompts and I am working next week, I will utilize my TBR so if I only managed to finish one book it could still fit to various prompts.
So let’s get to the prompts!
Prompts 🧾
-
Read a book with a cover that matches the color of your birthstone.
-
Read a book that starts with the word “The”.
-
Read a book that inspired a movie you’ve seen already.
-
Read the first book you touch.
-
Read a book completely outside your house.
-
Read a book in a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of.
-
Read a book that takes place on a different continent than where you live.
To-Be-Read
Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella
Prompts:
- Cover that matches the color of your birthstone
- The first book that you touch.
↠ I am a July baby so Ruby is my birthstone. This book is mostly red and I want to have a light-read for this readathon so I choose this. It would also be the first book that I touched since this is the first book that I grabbed on my shelf to make sure that the front cover is also red because the spine is red. So that’s that.😉
The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan
Prompts:
- A book that starts with the word “THE”.
- A genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of.
↠ I’ve been tempted to pick this up as soon as I finished the second book but I think this will be a fast-read for this readathon so I restrain myself for a little bit. I’m so excited to read this. Also, this is a mythology book and I wanted to read more of mythology or adaptations since I’m always fascinated by it.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Prompts:
- A book that starts with the word “THE”.
- A genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of.
- A book that takes place on a different continent than where you live.
↠ Historical Fiction is a daunting genre for me and since everyone in the book community loves this, I wanted to know what the hype is all about. And maybe I will enjoy the genre too. This book is set in Europe, specifically in Germany, and I am from Asia so this is perfect. To be honest, I could use all the books in this TBR, except one, for the continent prompt since most book takes place in America but let’s go to Europe instead.🤣
The Host by Stephenie Meyer
Prompts:
- A book that inspired a movie you’ve seen already.
- A book that starts with the word “The”
- A genre you’ve always wanted to read more of.
↠ I have seen the movie twice or thrice now. It’s always on TV, they even dubbed the movie in our country and my grandfather enjoys watching it because it’s sci-fi. I did not know that it was based on a book at first and I really enjoyed the movie but of course, the book is definitely better. Also, I wanted to read more sci-fi. It’s a genre that I like but I rarely reach into.
Banned Book Club by Kim Hyun Sook, Ko Hyung-Ju Illustrated by Ryan Estrada
Prompts:
- Read a book completely outside your house.
- A genre you’ve always wanted to read more of.
↠ This is a graphic novel autobiography following the author’s life during the days when there are censorship in South Korea and books are banned. I would surely fly through this book. And this will be a perfect way to read autobiography for me since I have not read any.
When a Scot Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare
Prompts:
- A genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of.
- A book that takes place on a different continent than where you live.
↠ This was not on my original TBR. But as soon as this was recommended to me as something similar to You’ve Got Mail, I am already sold. Plus, this is a historical romance and I have never read books in that genre before so I am excited to know if I would like it. And I am not sure where this takes place but I am assuming that it is set in Europe (?) because of the London Season in the synopsis.
So that is all for this oh-so ambitious TBR. I make it my goal to read books that are mostly on my shelf but I really need a couple of e-books as a breather.
