Recent Reads (May 18-24, 2020)

Hello fellow bookworms. Happy Monday! Another week passed by and I feel like I have done nothing, not even blogging. But it’s okay, it’s fine to slow down a little (well that’s what I tell myself).

I have not been reading much lately, I don’t know if it’s because of my reread of The Hunger Games trilogy or I am just lazy this week. On the good side, I managed to finish a book and managed to start another without finishing my current reads.🤣

I will not make this intro too long, but let’s get into the book!

The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson

↠My goal for last week is to manage to read up to 50% of this book and I managed to get into 48% which is good. So far, I am not loving one of the characters. I like seeing where the plot was going and how the story was slowly unfolding. However, I am not really into the book. I am already halfway through it but I don’t feel any connection with the story whatsoever.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

↠Rereading this book has been fun because I am noticing details that I have never noticed before and remember those that I have forgotten through the years. However, it took me so long to get into it. I feel like the story is so slow and I already managed to read 150 pages and we are still not on the Games. Though seeing the beginning of the rebellion is interesting, it just don’t capture my attention.

The Art of War by Sun Tzu

↠You would think that I would finish a book this short, only 92 pages, in one sitting but nope. This book is a classic and a very popular one. I have a gist of the discussion in it back in college but I never picked up the actual book. And making my way through this, I am annotating and absorbing every chapter to make the most of my reading experience and it was fun. I am already more than halfway through so I am confident that I can finish it this week.

Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum

Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

↠I found this book on a recommendation for books with the same plot as You’ve Got Mail. I pick this book up on a whim, I just want to read something light and it was the best decision ever. I fly through this book and I love it. It has the right amount of penpal mystery, romance, friendship, and a bit of family drama. I was just put off a bit with the writing style but all in all, it was fun.

So that is all for this recent reads. Hopefully, I will finish all the books that I am currently reading before the end of the month because I want to start with a clean slate next month.

I hope you guys are safe and healthy.

Until next time!
