Summer has come early in my country. It’s only May and yet the heat is killing me. It’s very hard to do things when it’s too hot. And with that being said, I tend to only read at night when the air is a bit cooler. So I haven’t been reading much.
Also, since summer is right around the corner, I’ve been leaning on contemporary romance books which only happens this year. I rarely reached out for contemporary romance books but now I am craving for it. If anyone knows a book similar to You’ve Got Mail, let me know!
I still managed to finish 2 books; 1 of these books has been on my currently reading for a month and it’s about time that I finish it. I also DNFed a book not because it was bad but because the content is too heavy for my taste and I want to dive into the book with the right mindset so I will probably pick it up again some other time.
Okay, so without further ado, let’s get into the books.
Currently Reading 📖
The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
↠I’ve only started it this month but I was supposed to read it last April for the Cosmereverse readathon but better late than never. I am currently listening to the audiobook while I was working and I am already 27% in. I really love Brandon Sanderson’s world-building and magical system. I’m so excited to get deeper into the story.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
↠I am rereading this book because the prequel is coming out this month and I am planning to devour it ASAP. That is my most anticipated book of the year and I am not waiting around to be spoiled. So I am currently buddy reading this with my college best friend so we can both read the prequel as soon as it came out.
Read Books 📚
Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett
Rating:🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
↠I saw this book on Hailey in Bookland‘s recommendation and as soon as I heard the synopsis and I check it out on Goodreads, I immediately downloaded the ebook and read it. This is another take on the You’ve Got Mail trope and I love this book. However, we did not get to see a lot of the online conversation but it’s fine. I love the story nonetheless.
Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi
Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
↠After a month of struggling and contemplating if I should finish the book, I finally did it. I think the main reason why I struggle so much with this book is that there is a shift in the flow of the story compared to the original trilogy that makes it hard for me to get into the book like I did with the original. However, the storyline is good. There are a lot of twists and revelations and some explanations about people like Juliette. And I really love Kenji in this book.
That is all for my weekly wrap-up. I did not include the book that I DNFed because I am still hoping to pick it up when I am in the mood for stories like that.
So that is all for this blog.
Until next time!
