Recent Reads (Apr. 06-12, 2020)

Happy Easter everyone! I am not yet ready for Monday after my long weekend but back to reality.

I have been staying away from social media lately; blogging and Goodreads are my only exception. It is refreshing because I haven’t seen a lot of negative things lately. Plus I’ve been reading, though what I am reading is taking too much of my time but I am not complaining, I am having the best time ever.

I don’t think I read a lot this week but at least I am reading. So without further ado, let’s talk about books!

Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi

I am already halfway through this book and I just have to stop. This is not a bad book and I realized why this feels like a different book from the original trilogy; it’s because the writing style suits the generation today with all the secrets, mysteries and the like. The original trilogy is just the classic dystopian which is fun and enjoyable. I just think that I am not ready for all the secrets and hiding and all that. I don’t want to push myself to continuing just yet because I may either have a slump in the end or hate it once I finish it.

S. by J.J. Abrams & Doug Dorst

If I am only allowed to read the same book over and over again for the rest of my life, this will be it. I am already making my way through this book for the 5th time and I am not yet finish. This is a very interactive book and you can read it in a lot of ways; which is why I am trying to read it in all the ways possible. I feel like this book is quite underrated and I wish a lot of people could read it. I will put up a reader’s guide for this once I finished this because it will be a very confusing read if you don’t know how to read it right.

The Clique by Lisi Harrison

Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

I don’t know how many times I have read this book but every time that I plan to pick this book up, I was hesitant because I have a different perspective when I first read it. However, I love it every single time even though I can tell what the flaws of this book are. But still, I love it. Seeing the beginning of how the girls and their friendship came a long way always put a smile on my face.

The Clique: The Manga by Lisi Harrison & Yishan Li

Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

I never knew this book existed until I planned on doing a blog about my The Clique series collection. But once I heard about this book, I asked my aunt to buy it for me as it is not available in my country. And it arrives at our house last Saturday. I was planning on just browsing the book and see the artwork but I ended up reading it in one sitting.🤣 And I just realized that I finish The Clique novel and manga back to back.

So that is all for my reading week. I hope you have a fun reading week and keep safe and be healthy guys!

Until next time.

Maria❤
