I’ve been into book tags lately and I am quite excited when I found this book tag over at The Wordy Habitat. Because books and coffee are like the best of friends. Although I am more of a tea lover now books and coffee is one of my OTP.🤣
Grab your coffee and let’s get into the book tag!
1.) BLACK: Name a series that’s tough to get into but has hardcore fans.
THRONE OF GLASS SERIES BY SARAH J. MAAS
I have to admit that I am very intrigued with this series until now. Even though I’ve heard mixed reviews about it, the hype is still there. This is one of those series that I waited long enough to be in the mood to read but now I am not sure if I will ever get around to reading it because the books are quite hefty, especially the 4th to 6th books. And it is a 6-book long series plus 2 books for companion novel/novella.
I remember attempting to read the Throne of Glass to get a feel if I will like the book or not. But I put it down because I feel like I have read it at the wrong time. I picked it up right after finishing a book with the similar plot though I know that the journey and mission would be different. So I have to put it down to stop comparing. But I am still hoping to get into the series or just at least read the first book and decide if I will read the rest.
2.) PEPPERMINT MOCHA: Name a book that gets more popular during the winter or a festive time of the year.
HARRY POTTER SERIES BY J.K. ROWLING
Harry Potter is the kind of book that people often reach out to during the Winter Season. And I guess it is because of the warm cozy feeling that it gives while you’re reading a book. Specially to those who grew up with Harry, it would feel like coming home.
3.) HOT CHOCOLATE: What is your favorite children’s book?
NARNIA SERIES BY C.S. LEWIS
I am not a big reader when I was a kid so I don’t have a huge options for children’s book. But I know that Narnia is one of those so called children’s book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.
4.) DOUBLE SHOT OR ESPRESSO: Name a book that kept you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
WILDCARD BY MARIE LU
This is the sequel and the final book to the Wildcard Duology so I already expected this book to pick up the pacing. However, this is one of those rare books that is a solid read from start to finish. After picking up on where we left off from the first book, this book is nonstop action, a little suspense and of course plot twists. I could not put this book down cause every chapter is a cliffhanger and I want to know what happens next or I will not be at peace. This is a very fun book to read if you are looking for something fast-paced and entertaining. Check out my full review.😉
5.) STARBUCKS: Name a book you see everywhere.
HOUSE OF EARTH AND BLOOD BY SARAH J. MAAS
Even before this book was released, I’ve been seeing it everywhere. And now that the book is out, it’s all over bookstagram and bookTube! But I am not complaining. This book has a very pretty cover it makes me want to read it. However, as far as I’ve heard it is an urban fantasy following a fallen angel and another lead character. And one of my all time favorite trilogy (Daughter of Smoke and Bones) almost have the same concept of angels and urban fantasy so I will have a very high standard. But I am really tempted to pick this book up. Maybe this will be the Sarah J. Maas book for me. Who knows.🤷♀️
6.) THAT HIPSTER COFFEE SHOP: Give a book by an indie author a shout out!
FRAGILE BY JANDRA SUTTON
This is a book that I wish more people would read. I have read it way back in 2017 but I could not forget it since. We follow the story of a girl named Ava who is deaf. And all her life people pitied her or thinks she is broken just because one of her sense organs does not work. But then she met someone who made her realize that just because she is deaf does not mean that she is broken. And this book shifted my perspective ever since. It makes me realized that just because one cannot see or hear does not mean that s/he is not normal. Do give it a try if you haven’t!
7.) OOPS! I ACCIDENTALLY GOT DECAF: Name a book you were expecting more.
PASSENGER BY ALEXANDRA BRACKEN
I love The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken the moment that I read it. I don’t know if it is the writing style or the plot itself but I like it. And I pick this book up expecting to have the same experience as I did with The Darkest Minds. I DIDN’T. This book feels it was written by a different author. There are good points in the plot though it looks like a subplot because of the romance. I almost had a slump with this book. The pacing is slow and I don’t care about the characters so that ending does not really have an impact for me. I guess expectation really leads to disappointment sometimes.
8.) THE PERFECT BLEND: Name a book or series that was both bitter and sweet but ultimately satisfying.
DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE TRILOGY BY LAINI TAYLOR
I know a lot of people does not like these books and I am okay with that. We all have different opinions and tastes, just like in how we take our coffee.😉 But I really love this trilogy so much (though I haven’t reread it since). It is the perfect book and the perfect blend for me because it has everything I wanted and more. Magic, romance, plot twists, action, friendship and of course death; it’s all in there. Plus, Laini Taylor’s writing style is so beautiful! I think it is one of the books that really opened the door for me to urban fantasy or just fantasy in general. And I am hoping to reread it this year.
So that is it for this book tag. I had so much fan doing this.
I am tagging anyone who wants to do it. And you should because it’s so fun!
I hope you guys are healthy and safe.
Until next time!
Maria❤
I’m glad you loved the tag! And you’re spot on about SJM’s books, especially House of Earth and Blood which is EVERYWHERE.

Do you like it??

Not really. Throne of glass was good until book 4 and then went bad. And I liked only book 2 in the ACOTAR series.
