After my successful Bibliothon, I decided to do the Reading Rush. It’s cool how they have their own website where you can earn badges for accomplishing the challenges, tracked the pages that you read for that day and also meet new bookish friends.
Reading Rush is formerly known as Booktubeathon. The readathon will start from July 22 to July 28, 2019 which is tomorrow on my timezone. Again I am doing this readathon in my own timezone.
Subscribe to their YouTube channel to see the reading challenges and the video challenges if you wanted to join. (Click here to go to their profile.)
There are 7 Challenges for this round:
- Book with Purple on the cover
- Read a book in the same spot the entire time
- Read a book that you meant to read last year
- Read an author’s first book
- Read a book featuring a non-human character
- Pick a book with 5 or more words in the title
- Read & watch a book to movie adaptation
And also it is not an actual challenge to read 7 books in a week but you can get a badge if you managed to do that.
So without further ado, here are my TBR for this year’s Reading Rush.
1. BOOK WITH PURPLE ON THE COVER
~So I have two options for this challenge and I am not sure on what will I read. I want to pick up Broken Throne right after I finished War Storm. However, I am not 100% sure that I can finish War Storm yet because it was a hefty book so just in case that I will not finish it (but I am hoping that I could finish it!), I will read The Book of Tomorrow instead.
The Book of Tomorrow is a reread for me because I’ve already read it 8 years ago but I wanted to revisit the story. So I am sure that I will fly through this book.
2. READ A BOOK IN THE SAME SPOT THE ENTIRE TIME
~This will not be a readathon if a Sarah Morgan book is not on my TBR. I can read her books in just one sitting! So I know this is the perfect book for this challenge. Of course my reading spot would be my bed. Who doesn’t love reading in bed anyway?
3. READ A BOOK THAT YOU MEANT TO READ LAST YEAR
~This may not be a wise choice for a readathon because it is over 600 pages. But I managed to finish Deathly Hallows which is over 700 pages last week, I was hoping that I could finish this book and the series as well. And I may have cheated a little bit because I already started this book. But to my defense, I am just setting the mood to start this book and I only read the first chapter.
4. READ AN AUTHOR’S FIRST BOOK
~I am choosing Jennifer E. Smith for this challenge because she is one of the chosen few YA Contemporary authors that I could enjoy and tolerate. And given that I am in the contemporary mood lately, I want to catch up on reading more of her books. I have only read The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, This is What Happy Looks Like, Geography of You and Me & Hello, Goodbye and Everything in Between. I still have a lot to catch up to, especially with the new releases.
5. READ A BOOK FEATURING A NON-HUMAN CHARACTER
~I am specifically reading the 10th Anniversary edition with all its bonus content. I’ve been meaning to reread this series because this is one of my all time favorite series and I’ve only read once! Shame on me. So I think it is a perfect motivation to reread this series, and maybe, just maybe, I will finally pick up Bloodlines.
Also, I wanted to rewatch the movie and it feels like a good excuse. I can also use this for the challenge of read the book and watch the movie but I’m sure that I will accomplish that challenge because I choose a short book (which is also a favorite).
6. PICK A BOOK WITH 5 OR MORE WORDS IN THE TITLE
~This is a very short book from the perspective of a whale (?) so I can also use this for the 5th challenge if I did not get around to reading Vampire Academy. And also, I’m excited to pick up another book by Patrick Ness. Plus this book has cool illustrations!
7. READ AND WATCH A BOOK TO MOVIE ADAPTATION
~This book is one of my favorite books last year and one of the all time favorite classics that I have read (which is not much). The writing style is not hard to get to which is why I enjoyed it, though I know that the story is not that perfect. I’m very excited to watch the movie (which slipped out of my mind that has a movie until I came across this challenge) because it’s Leonardo DiCaprio!
So that’s my TBR for this readathon. If you guys are joining, add me up on my Reading Rush profile!
Till next time!
