Hello, guys! It’s that time of the year again when you have to sit and stare at your shelf and ask yourself how many books you have accumulated this month. As for me, I accumulated a total of 12 books! But even if I have as much, I only bought 9 books and 8 of them are on my priority list for 2016. The other one is from a thrift bookstore and the 3 other books are from an author and my prize for completing a book challenge. Shall we get into it??

Exciting Book Mail!
What’s a better way to start the holiday season than receiving a book mail?
I’ve been seeing a certain book everywhere on Instagram. And I’m so glad that the author is kind enough to send me her book. I received a copy of her first book Under Ground by Alice Rachel. Reading the synopsis of the book gives me the dystopian vibes to it. Have a look at the first book plus the synopsis down below.
Love is a taboo, a mere fantasy— foreign, unreachable, and dangerous.
Raised in a society where women have no rights, seventeen-year-old Thia Clay holds little hope for a bright future. When her parents sell her into marriage to elite member William Fox, Thia slowly gives in to despair. William is nothing but a cruel, selfish young man with no other interest than to serve his own.
Born illegally and forced to hide from the authorities his entire life, nineteen-year-old Chi Richards is an active member of the Underground—a rebellious group seeking to overthrow the government.
Chi only has one goal—to rescue his parents from the work camp they were forced into.
Meeting Thia was never part of the plan, and neither was falling in love with her.
If caught in their forbidden relationship, Thia and Chi could face a death sentence, and when devastating secrets surface from Chi’s past, Thia has to rely on her instincts to make a choice that could save her or destroy her forever.
Kima by A.H. Amin

“Life is momentary for a reason; we live and try to live the most of it if we can, but it can only be governed by fate.”
Christmas Eve 1928 gave birth to a yearly phenomenon in South Africa. A herd of false killer whales were found beached upon the shore. It has also given birth to the story of two young children who meet an old woman named Kima. Kima somehow knows why this has happened, but that’s not all she knows. The children, Alex and Alice, realize that there is more to this woman that what meets the eye, and ear. She will reveal to them a tale, a mysterious story she claims was passed on to her by a mythical Black Seagull.
Derived from both historic tales and figures, Kima is a fictional character portrayed in a way that makes her become real.
Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
Published: September 20, 2016
“No one really wishes to be a queen.”
Every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.
But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose… it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown.
If only it was that simple. Katharine is unable to tolerate the weakest poison, and Arsinoe, no matter how hard she tries, can’t make even a weed grow. The two queens have been shamefully faking their powers, taking care to keep each other, the island, and their powerful sister Mirabella none the wiser. But with alliances being formed, betrayals taking shape, and ruthless revenge haunting the queens’ every move, one thing is certain: the last queen standing might not be the strongest…but she may be the darkest.
I have to say that I have a good reading month considering that I’m getting out of my slump. I managed to read 5 books this month. According to my Goodreads reading challenge, I am on track BUT I am already ahead of 2 books. I’ll justify myself in a sec.
Let’s get into the books!
