October Book Haul & Wrap-up

October is over. And it is time for another monthly book haul and wrap-up. I only read 3 books this month but I accumulated a lot of books. This month is a good book hoarding month but a not so good reading month because of my slump.

Let’s proceed to the wrap-up first! I read good books this month.

🎃 My True Love is Blue – 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

I find this book whimsical in its own way. The way art is incorporated and how the story revolves around grief and moving forward adds another touch to the plot as a whole. The book is short yet I feel like it offered different genre, from dark fiction to mystery. I like it and highly recommend it to those who love a quick read, loves art or just fascinated by how the painting was put into words.

🎃 The Girl in 6E – 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑

This book is not what I expected it to be. It did not meet my expectation, although the pace of the story is fast and there is something about the ending of every chapter that keeps you from reading the next chapter. Still, it’s a bit disappointing considering all the hype that it receives before.

🎃 First Heist – 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

I enjoyed this novella of the Omar Zagouri Thriller. I’m more attached to the character in this novella rather than the novel that I read from previous months. The characters really showcased their personality in this novella.

And now for the books that I accumulated this month. I’ll be dividing this book into two, brand new books and second-hand books.

🌸Brand new books!🌸

Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility & The Beautiful Cassandra

After reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, I decided to collect her books in this edition because why not? This simple yet colorful design looks good on my shelf.

The Thousandth Floor

I’ve been seeing this book on Instagram and youtube so I decided to pick it up when I see it in the bookstore. Plus, I heard that the end pages is gorgeous!

A Torch Against The Night

It is one of my most anticipated books of 2016! But I haven’t read it yet because the third book comes out on 2018. I’ll probably read this next year.

Death Note

It is a replica of the Death Note in the famous manga/anime Death Note. What more is, there are writings inside the book which includes the rules and the names that Light wrote himself! This is not a book, I know. But it is book related… somehow.

I also bought 30-second Philosophy (The 50 most thought-provoking philosophies, each explained in half a minute) but I’m too lazy to take a photo of it because I forgot that I also bought that book when I was taking the photos of my haul. So here’s a photo of the book cover taken from the Google instead.

🌸Second-hand Books!🌸

Between the Lines

After the release of Off the Page. I’ve been eyeing this book because the plot intrigues me. And when I find it in a used/second-hand bookstore I grab it because it is in hardcover format and the illustrations are to die for!

Graceling

Another book that I’ve seen in many bookTube channels when they are doing tags. And what do you know, they also have it in hardcover! (Now my only problem is finding a hardcover copy of the 2nd and 3rd book.)

Fever

I’ve seen this before in the used/second-hand bookstore thrice! I let it go the first time and was intrigued by the cover so I checked it out on Goodreads when I get home and I regret not buying it. The second time, I don’t have an extra money to buy it. Then on the third time, I bought it!

A Mango-Shaped Space

When I saw it in the bookstore I immediately thought of reading it for diverse reading month. But the slump takes over and I haven’t gotten around to reading it but I’m planning to!

The 500

I’ve heard good things about Matthew Quirk but some of his books are not on my radar. But after reading the synopsis of this book, I’m quite sold. Although it saddened me that it is not a standalone. Now I need to find the next book (or probably read it in ebook format).

Vampire Academy

If you didn’t know, I’m a huge fan of the Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead. I bought the whole set last year but the first book has a different cover, it is the movie tie-in edition. So when I saw this online for a very cheap price, I bought it. Who needs two copies of the same book anyway? Well, me I guess.

That’s all for my October book haul and wrap-up. I hope you have a good reading month this November!

PS. Pardon, the different lighting effect on my photos. The sunny is bitchy at the time when I was taking the photo of the books and played hide-and-seek in the clouds and I’m too lazy to retake the photos.
