SYNOPSIS:

Happily-Ever-After isn’t on Emily Donovan’s agenda…

Emily’s been too swept up in a challenging year of firsts, from becoming a stand-in mum to her niece Lizzy to moving to remote but beautiful Puffin Island, to think about love.

But that’s before charismatic local yacht club owner Ryan Cooper kisses her…

Ryan knows Emily has a complicated past that she’s struggling to face. So he makes it his mission to help her unwind and enjoy the chemistry they share.

Can the welcoming community of Puffin Island work their magic on Emily and get her to take her biggest leap of trust yet —putting her heart in someone else’s hands?

REVIEW:

Ms. Sarah Morgan did it again. I don’t know what’s with her stories that captivates me so much. It is one of those cliche love stories and there are a lot of cliche scenes that you would see in all of her books but still it varies in each story adding its own appeal to the reader. She’s officially one of my favorite contemporary authors.

The story revolves around Emily and how she copes up with what she has to deal with after the death of her sister. The theme of family and friendship are very strong in this book (which always is when you read a Sarah Morgan books). It’s the right amount of love, friendship, family and in addition to this is the character’s relation to her new community. Emily’s past is what keeps her from being okay with her new life. She feels like she lost control over everything in her life.

I really love the self-discovery aspect of every book presented by Sarah Morgan, especially in this book. The weight of what happened in Emily’s past triggers emotions and a feeling of sympathy as the story unfolds. It warms my heart to see how Emily was determined to try the things that she fears the most for her niece. However, I’m not quite sold in the instant love with the Ryan and Emily but their whole relationship somehow makes up for it.

I gave this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars for the reason that considering that this is the first book in the trilogy, it gives a brief introduction with regards to the characters in the next two books. It presented the issues of Emily’s friends, Skylar and Brittany, that they are dealing with and it makes you want to read their own story. I did not see that aspect in the first book of From Manhattan with Love trilogy although that book is still a good first book.

Highly recommending this to those who wants a fast and light reads. Do check it out and other Sarah Morgan’s books as well. 🙂
