SYNOPSIS:
In the chaos of New York, true love can be hard to find, even when it’s been right under your nose all alongโฆย
Love has never been a priority for garden designer Frankie Cole. After witnessing the fallout of her parents’ divorce, she’s seen the devastation an overload of emotion can cause. The only man she feels comfortable with is her friend Mattโbut that’s strictly platonic. If only she found it easier to ignore the way he makes her heart raceโฆย
Matt Walker has loved Frankie for years but, sensing how fragile she is beneath her feisty exterior, has always played it cool. But then he uncovers new depths to the girl he’s known forever and doesn’t want to wait a moment longer. He knows Frankie has secrets and has buried them deep, but can Matt persuade her to trust him with her heart and kiss him under the Manhattan sunset?ย
REVIEW:
I’m not really a fan of contemporary YA books let alone an adult contemporary. I wasn’t expecting so much from this book and I thought this would be a cutesy contemporary love-at-first-sight kind of book. It proves me wrong the more I read this book. I never knew I could relate to characters as much as I did with Frankie. Her character was very real. It gives an insight of what’s going on inside the head of a person who happens to be in the middle of the fallout. It’s real, it’s refreshing and it is very easy to get to. Plus the fact that Frankie loves books makes me love her even more.
The romance part of this book was not forced. It’s a process of discovering and uncovering one’s true feelings. It takes time and courage to risk saying the words “I love you” to someone. The plot may seem too typical yet the topics that ย it has touched was something we hardly saw in contemporaries. Moreover, every dialogue of the characters makes me want to quote them everywhere. Plus I think that the plot was well synchronized with some sexy scenes.
This is one of those fast-paced contemporary books that would keep you turning the pages.
This is definitely one of my favorite reads of 2016! You should definitely read this book. I’m highly recommending it. I may not be an expert when it comes to recommending contemporaries given that I haven’t read much from the genre, but I’m surely recommending this to everyone! I’m ashamed that I haven’t read other books by Ms. Sarah Morgan but I’m planning to remedy that. Do keep in mind that even though it is the second book of From Manhattan With Love (series or trilogy, I’m not really sure) that does not mean that you can’t read this book. It’s like Anna and the French Kiss which can be standalone.
