A Journey to the World of A Song of Ice and Fire

I finally finished the 2nd book, A Clash of Kings, after 3 months. Yes! 3 effing months. It took me so long to finish this because I’ve been putting it off for quite some time and I picked up another book. However, I decided that I will sit down and just read it. I’ve been including it to almost all of the readathon that I joined in the past month.

George R.R. Martin did not disappoint. I was more engrossed with this book rather than the first. The first book was quite confusing at first especially the shift of POVs. However, I was more familiar with their world now that confusion is not a factor anymore. Some new characters here and there pops up that adds more excitement to this series.

This book woke me up to the troupe that a protagonist will go back to his/her home and kick some ass. However, this series has too many books and too many pages in each book that it would surely take some time for a protagonist to rescue his/her homeland. The struggles, the treachery, and the longing are so real. Plus the element of magic and wizardry is finally making its appearance in the second book. I also love the political aspect of it which I truly enjoy. All in all, I like the plot because you wouldn’t know where it is going but not the all-over-the-place kind of plot. A good unpredictable plot.

In my last blog about the first book, I like Daenerys Targaryen. Her character development and her kick ass attitude really captivate me while reading the book. However, in the second book, I feel like other characters have overpowered her in my heart. Plus I’m starting to dislike, but not hate, her character. And I found a new love in this series. I’m switching sides now. I’m rooting for House Lannister! Well, only for Tyrion Lannister. I enjoyed his wits and all his issues. Plus, his POVs are highlighting the political aspect of the story. And I love the political aspect of it, have I mentioned? I’m saying it again, though. Before, my heart was shouting, mother of dragons! Now it says, Half man! Half man! Half man!

Ohhh. And let’s get started about the numerous deaths. I already lost count. But, the last chapter. The ending. I feel like it is not well explained how the effing mind blowing things occur?! My mouth was seriously agape after finishing this book. My very thought when I close the book  was what just happened?!

You should definitely read this series! And the second book is way better than the first, at least for me. On to the third book!😍

  1. Oh god! I’ve been wanting to start the show, but overtime I want to click play on the first episode, I’m like ‘you should just read the books first…’ BUT THEY’RE SO BIG! AHH! I’m gonna start the Falling Kingdoms series because people say that it’s good to start that one first to get in the mood for this one. I’m gonna probably just listen to the audiobooks of this because as I already mentioned SO LONG, SO MANY BOOKS! But your post really made me want to read this… let’s see what happens.

    1. I have the same sentiments before I start this series. I hesitate because they’re huge! I tried reading it and listening to audiobook as well. However, I’m more focused on the story when I’m reading it. Just don’t mind the super duper many names they’re quite confusing at first but you will eventually get familiar with it.❤️

I’m planning to read the Outlander series after this.😭😂
